Read! Read! Read!

Don't forget to read this summer!! Mrs. Hartless has read five books. For Mrs. Hartless, that is pretty good. I am on my 6th book right now. One that I am reading is FOUND, one of our Sunshine State books. Lizzie has read FIVE Sunshine State books so far. For those future Hartless/Gibbons Heroes (or Apes) you will read some awesome novels next year.

Hartless Summer Update

Hello Hartless Heroes. Here's another update from MY summer. Can you believe it is already July?? The Hartless clan has had a busy summer and it is getting busier. Here are some pictures of what we have been doing so far. These are not in any particular order!! Enjoy. Thanks Brandi and Gaby for keeping in touch with me. Let me hear from some more Heroes!!

Here Lizzie and her friends painted a special picture for Father's Day. They did it at "Yes You Canvas" on San Jose. It is really cool place.

Here is a picture of most of the group that went on the cruise. We are in Atlantis in the Bahamas.

Here I am with Mrs. Whitelaw. We all has such a great time. Can't wait to do it again next year.

Here is Ricky leading a song for Vacation Bible School. The theme was Life School Musical. We learned about the 10 Commandments.

Not sure if you can see the bird feasting at my bird feeder. I was driving away from my house when I saw it. Glad I always have my camera handy!!

The Hartless family definitely loves the beach. We went to Huguenot Park where you can park right next to the ocean. Ricky's riding the waves.

Go Lizzie!! Watch out for the wave behind you.

Then we drove to the inlet side of the Park where it is calm and peaceful.

And as always, we are busy with Ricky's baseball. His team won districts and is now going to play for the State title. Go Bombers!!

Crazy Weather!!

How many of you saw that massive storm we had Friday night? Did you know there were THREE tornadoes spotted in Jacksonville? Mr. Hartless was coming home from Orange Park when he saw one of the twisters. Here is a picture he took coming over the Buckman Bridge. It was incredible how hard is was raining and hailing. We normally have thunderstorms almost everyday in the summer here in Florida. But we've had some unusually BAD storms here lately. Make sure you stay safe!!!

Hartless Update

Hey to all my Hartless Heroes!! I hope you are having a great summer. I just wanted to update you on MY summer so far.

As you may have read on my blog last week, I went on a cruise. I went to the Bahamas and had a great time. You know how much I love to dance and sing? Well, I did plenty of that. And the food was incredible. There was a group of us from Beauclerc who went and we all had the best time.

Before and after the cruise I have furiously been cleaning and organizing room 73 - my new classroom. That will continue into next week as well. Don't worry, I'll make room 73 just as awesome as room 26. Please come and visit next year.

It's hard to believe that next week is 4th of July. We all thought the school year went by fast but it seems the summer is going by faster!! AHHHH!

Let me know about your summer.

ABC...Easy as 123!!

It's hard to believe that the King of Pop Michael Jackson is gone. Many of you were not even thought of when Jackson was at his prime. Though over the last decade or so, his life turned into a crazy soap opera, you cannot deny the musical talent of this singer. So for the next couple of weeks enjoy some of my favorite MJ songs.

Last Post until Monday

This will be my last post until early next week. I am going on a cruise and won't be back until Monday. This is my one and only vacation this summer. Have a great weekend.

Oh The Things You Can See....If you are paying ATTENTION!!!

One day last week, Ricky and I were driving through Briarwood and something caught my eye. This HUGE turtle was walking down the sidewalk. I had to get out and get a closer look. This was the biggest turtle I had ever seen (outside a zoo!!)

I took this picture from my car.

Of course the turtle was scared of us, so it pulled in it's head and legs. That's an adaptation for turtles.

Ricky wanted to take it home and make it our pet. I don't think so!!

Once I got back behind it, the head came out to make sure the coast was clear. Then is started moving on. Check out the video below.

Last Day for Teachers!!

June 9th was the official LAST day of school for all faculty. We spent the morning sending your files to your new 6th grade schools. Then Mrs. Rowan has the best idea. We had an all-teacher cook-out with the food we had left over from the 5th grade cook-out. Mr. Gibbons brought in his grill and did all the cooking. All the other teachers brought in yummy food. It was a great way to end the school year.

It really was Mrs. Whitelaw's last day as she is retiring. EVERYONE will miss her!!

Check out Mrs. Hartless' new room. I'll be up there ALOT this summer getting Room 73 ready for the upcoming 5th graders.

Wild Adventures was WILD!!!

What a great way to end a GREAT year. Congratulations to ALL the Heroes who earned their trip. We had fun despite the crazy weather. No crowds meant no waiting for rides. I had a blast walking around with Daniel, Simley and Bobby.

Mrs. Peck and Mr. Gibbons - Why are you soaking wet??

Why is Elton smiling???

Is Isaiah sleeping with one eye OPEN??

Love and miss you!!!

OK...I broke my promise!!

Sorry that I haven't posted pictures from the end of our school year. Today was the last official day for teachers. As most of you know, I am moving down the hall to room 73. The past two days have been spent cleaning out a bunch of stuff. I have everything in the room, I just have to find a place to put it all. I will be spending the next few days trying to accomplish that feat. Would anyone like to help??? Just kidding. You guys need to enjoy your summer. Email me when you can and tell me what you are doing. I would love to give summertime updates of my Hartless Heroes!!!

I will leave a stack of DVD's from the dance in the front office if you would like one. Make sure you keep checking my blog. Have a wonderful summer.

THE BEST DAY EVER!!

What can I say??? What a day...what a week!! First, GRANDSTAND was AWESOME!! I was so proud of all the 5th graders who participated. "Shop Around" and "Da Do Ron Ron" got better with each performance. I'll post some pictures tomorrow. I will also be working on the DVD this weekend too. It will be great!!

Next, FCAT scores!! The Hartless Heroes rocked on our math scores. 5th grade rocked on ALL our scores. In fact, 3rd - 5th grade did amazing. We all should be very proud. But as I have mentined before, you are more than a test score. The work you do every day in class is what is important. So as you enter 6th grade, do your best every day. Don't work hard for a test score. Work hard because that is your job. That is what you are supposed to do.

And last, I hope you all enjoyed our final luncheon. I'm sorry I don't have any pictures. I was to busy enjoying the party myself. Again, this is all so bitter sweet. I love my job. I love teaching. I really love teaching 5th grade. To some the end of the year cannot come fast enough. For me, I am dreading these last five days. I don't like an empty classroom. But I am excited as your journey takes you into middle school. You are ready. I will miss each one of you very much. I hope you enjoy your name signs (make sure you thank Mr.Gibbons), shirts and photos. I have a few more goodies to give you next week. Thank you to all the parents who came and brought food. We had so much!!! On Monday I will have your class DVD for everyone. Now we can look forward to next week as we finish Milkweed, have our 5th grade picnic and then off to Wild Adventures.
